Tireless campaign culminates in two-day clean-up by Friends of the Welsh Harp

When the water was lowered for dam repairs, they were out there almost every day. Last weekend Friends of the Welsh Harp saw the culmination of six months of dedicated junk removal and litter-picks around the Welsh Harp with a two-day back-to-back clean-up.

Friends of the Welsh Harp is led by Cool Oak campaigners, Leila Taheri and Daniella Levene. The volunteer group has tirelessly transformed the woodlands, pathways and shoreline of the Welsh Harp with the help of local members of the public and support from Barnet Council grounds services.

Items removed include not just everyday litter but sinks, toilets, rusting appliances, mattresses, air compressors, water tanks, a safe and even a shotgun.

Friends of the Welsh Harp run litter-picks and conservation days involving pond clearance, bramble bashing and woodland tidy-ups every month.
